The COVID-19 induced anxiety and its association with burnout among hospital staff: A cross-sectional study in the southeast of Iran

Background and Objective: Suddenly appears of COVID-19 may induces anxiety in health care workers, as they are in frontline of the fight against the disease. Thus, the present study aimed at investigate the prevalence of CORONA anxiety and its association with burnout among hospital staff. Materials and Methods: This cross-sectional study carried out with the participation of 353 health care working in a hospital located in Zahedan, Iran. We used a census method and considering including criteria. Data were collected using a three-part web-based survey consists of demographic characteristics, Corona Disease Anxiety Scale, and Maslach Burnout Inventory. Finally, statistical analysis performed using Stata 14. Results: More than half of the sample were females, married and between 20-30 years. Out of 11.9% of subjects had severe anxiety. In emotional exhaustion, depersonalization, and personal accomplishment, it was found that 23.2%, 7.4%, and 57.5% considered a person with burnout, respectively. Also, there was a significant relationship between COVID-19 anxiety and burnout. Conclusions: it was found that there was a strong link between anxiety and burnout. According to the high prevalence of these disorders, we suggest paying more attention to health care, because of the most important role they have during the fight against the COVID-19.
